Our story

Hello and welcome to the Christmas Company.

We very much hope you like our beautiful range of hand-embroidered and ethically sourced Christmas tree decorations, luxury Christmas Stockings, and Santa Sacks. All of our ornaments are handmade, and the time taken to make each one is reflected in their unique quality. Here is our story:

For over 25 years we have worked with a small Christian charity in Thailand that helps disadvantaged rural women find work in their community, rather than being forced to leave home to work in a factory. Today, some 200 skilled women work at home sewing our decorations, and many of them have been doing so for more than a decade. All of our historical figure decorations are made in this way as well as numerous other designs.

As our company grew, we found a complimentary style to our figurative decorations in the traditional craft of zardozi embroidery. Zari (meaning gold) embroidery originated in Persia and reached India in the 12th century. It is a highly skilled embroidery technique that traditionally used gold wires and jewels to embellish courtly robes. We have worked for over 20 years with a family-run business in India and are proud to be supporting this rare and respected craft.

We are proud members of BAFTS (British Association of Fair Trade Suppliers) and supports the 10 Principles of Fair Trade, as set out by the World Fair Trade Organisation.
